Amberley Castle- A Relais & Chateaux Hotel - A historic luxury castle with 4 AA Red Stars, fine dining, and 5 hectare grounds

Amberley Castle- A Relais & Chateaux Hotel is a 900-year-old luxury castle enclosed by medieval walls and a lowered portcullis at night. The 19 unique rooms blend historic charm with modern comforts, featuring antiques, fine fabrics, Vispring beds, flat-screen TVs, and tea/coffee facilities; some have spa baths, gas fireplaces, or four-poster beds. Dining includes a 12th-century Queen's Room with vaulted ceilings, where guests can enjoy seasonal five-course dinners or à la carte menus. The 5 hectare grounds house ruins of a great hall, an 18-hole putting course, a croquet lawn, and a tennis court. Nearby attractions include Amberley Museum (0.5 km), Arundel's castle (6 km), and Petworth House (17 km). The hotel provides complimentary Wi-Fi, luggage storage, and a 24-hour front desk. Amberley Station, 1 km away, offers direct connections to Gatwick Airport and London.

Pros

The castle retains original features, including a portcullis, suit of armor, and 12th-century dining room.

The fine-dining restaurant holds 3 AA Rosettes and serves seasonal British cuisine.

Complimentary Wi-Fi, on-site parking, and afternoon tea with Nyetimber sparkling wine are available.

Cons

Some rooms are located outside the main castle walls in the 17th-century Bishopric dairy.

The historic architecture limits accessibility; only one ground-floor room has level-access shower facilities.
